This GROUNDHOG'S DAY... VALENTINE'S DAY... ST. PATRICK'S DAY... EASTER... INDEPENDENCE DAY... HALLOWEEN... HANUKAH... CHRISTMAS... RAMADAN Send your friends and family cards and letters with postmarks from places like PUNXSUTAWNEY... LOVELAND... DUBLIN... GALILEE... INDEPENDENCE... PUMPKIN CENTER... JERUSALEM... BETHLEHEM... MECCA... And many others... Here's how: On the next page is a list of cities with holiday-themed names with the state(s) and zip code(s) for each location. Address your holiday card as you normally would with a stamp and return address. Mail it in another envelope addressed to the postmaster of the city you have chosen (e.g.: "Postmaster, Valentine, Arizona 86437") with a cover letter requesting the enclosed envelope(s) be remailed with a local postmark. Generally, this should be done no less than three weeks prior to the relevant holiday. Loveland, Colorado and North Pole, Alaska are among the most famous places that use holiday-themed postmarks. Many of the other locales also use very distinctive holiday cancellations. This list is not yet comprehensive. Please e-mail if you have any corrections or additions. | |
